How beautiful is Michigan in the Fall? Bi-polar as it is–turning the heat on in the car on your way to work and cranking the A/C on your way home. Katelyn and I love traveling this time of year, just to enjoy the palette of kaleidoscopic leaves along the highway.
I’m particularly excited about this fall, because I get to enjoy another palette altogether as a lactovist (I hate that WordPress insists on underlining this word as a typo, get used to it WordPress and the world!). Fall brings flavors that I’ve always enjoyed as a carnivore, and lately I’ve been having a lot of difficulty in my eating, so (in my best Ian McKellen voice) these tasty treats come at last to the great battle of our time! You know of whom I speak (sorry, that was Cate Blanchett): pumpkins and apples unite!
I could not be happier to begin supplementing my very non-hobbit diet with a litany of pumpkin pie, apple cider, pumpkin caramel lattes, caramel apples, apple pie, apple dumplings, apple apple apple! Katelyn and I dug in over the weekend in St. Johns at Uncle John’s Cider Mill. It’s ridiculously busy, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s kind of like a carnival ride for vegetarians. Sit down, shut up, and shovel the apples in. It’s great!
I haven’t yet explored the pumpkin fully this year, but I’m looking forward to it!
